Free forever

An SOS button for the whole family

Hold the SOS button for three seconds, and everyone else in your family gets an alert with where you are and how much battery you have. SOS is free, and it always will be.

On iPhone (iOS 16 or later) and Android (8.0 or later).

Three seconds, so it doesn't go off by accident

A ring fills while you hold the button, and letting go early sends nothing. If it was sent by mistake, "I'm okay" cancels it.

Everyone in the family is alerted

The alert goes to every other family member's phone with the place, the street address and the battery level. On iPhone it is marked time-sensitive, so it comes through Focus modes.

Your child knows help is coming

When a parent taps "I'm on my way", your child's screen turns green and shows who is coming. Marking the SOS resolved clears it for everyone.

Directions in one tap

The alert shows a map of where the SOS was sent from, and Directions opens the route in your maps app.

SOS: common questions

Who gets the SOS alert?
Everyone else in your family on Orbit, parents and children alike, gets the alert on their phone.
Does Orbit's SOS call 911?
No. Orbit's SOS alerts your family, not emergency services. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. iPhone and Android phones also have their own Emergency SOS for that.
Will the alert ring if a phone is on silent?
On iPhone, the alert is time-sensitive, so it comes through Focus modes, but a phone switched to silent won't ring. It still appears on the lock screen.
Is SOS free?
Yes. SOS is on Orbit's free plan, along with the live map and family chat.
